We reviewed the scale today. It was a C-Major scale. We were again recalling about the intervals (1-1-1/2-1-1-1-1/2). For me, it was really easy, and if I did a mistake, it would be really embarrassing for me hehehe :)

Today, we had a practice for the Baroque music solo assessment. I played but it wasn't that good. I played without the sheet because somehow I remembered. The song was Minuet in G by Johann Sebastian Bach. I really admire the song.

Today, we got an unsuspected opem-book test, in case we got a low score on the previous test. This one was only the life story of J.S. Bach, which was WAAAY easier. Today, I also practiced Minuet in G Baroque song. I didn't know how to play an F sharp note on the saxophone though :/

Today is our written test assessment on Baroque music. There were 5 questions (not sure what they were) but thankfully, I answered them all. It was difficult. I needed lots of reviewing for the test, and so, I hope I get a good score. Today was also the first instrument class from a hiatus because Mr Hary got into an accident. The song I'm going to use for my next assessment is Minuet in G.

Today, we discussed more about the Baroque booklet. We looked at our assessment schedule and saw that we had to do a written test on Baroque stuff. I never really read the booklet, so I started doing so. I only learned about the composers. I also want to learn more about the music style.

Today, we discussed about the Baroque booklet and the use of it, which was the fact that we could undersrand about Baroque music style, composers and the type of songs they used to composed back in the day. Mr Hary was sick, so we joined the Violin class. We all played C major ( for woodwing), and A Major (for violin), and gave ourselves an applause.

Today, in Music Theory, we had our singing assessment. The song was easy to sing because it had very little lyrics. I was quite nervous but I did not mess up that much. I think it was because I prepared a lot. We did not have instrument class today.

Today, the song lyrics were distributed and we found out that the song name is 'Santa Lucia' (san-ta lu-chee-ah). We practiced singing it in different keys. It was difficult to sing. We also practiced singing in the instrument class, too. I can't reach the high notes, though. :(

Today is the first session of the Music Theory class after the term break. It is announced that we will have a solo singing assessment, only that the lyrics are in Italian. The lyrics aren't given out yet and we spent most of the time talking to each other. During the instrument class, we didn't actually play or practice with the instruments since Mr Hary wanted us to practice our vocal chords.

Assessment Day

Today, our class had the Indonesian Song Singing Assessment. We all picked "Hari Merdeka" as our song, because it was shorter and therefore, easier to memorize. There were multiple high notes I couldn't reach (my voice is quite low). Mr. Sadrakh was there staring at us so I couldn't concentrate. But overall, I think this was a great Music Theory session.

Assessment Date Relocation

Today, we did some Music Notation work and I got 2/5! I need to be more keen and precise when I do these so I can improve. Mr. Sadrakh told us that we have to sing an Indonesian song for our assessment. It is in pairs. The selection of songs are "Berkibarlah Benderaku" and "Hari Merdeka". The original assessment date was today, but then, it go moved to next Wednesday, 25th January 2012. I am glad because I get more practice time.
First Music Session in 7th Grade

Today was my first Music session because last Friday, 13th January 2012, I hadn't came to school yet since I was still on holiday. I found out that our Music Theory teacher is Mr. Sadrakh and I was put in the Woodwind class with Mr. Hary. We didn't do much today, we just talked. It was really fun.
In the Instrument class, I picked the Saxophone as my instrument. Mr. Hary gave me some personal information so that I can contact him further more about my instrument. I am due to get it by next week or so.
