Get Ready for the Test!

Tuesday, 28th September 2010

Today in Music Theory, we continued practicing about triads and its inversions. I was quite confused at first because I thought a triad and its first inversion was the same thing. And I was like, "What the?" But fortunately, I was beginning to understand about it as Mr John explained. Afterwards, we asked Mr Hary about the Asian song that we have to sing. Turns out... I have to sing a CHINESE song! How crazy is that! I think I'm singing that because I'm making a presentation about China. But! I have to sing it as a solo. OMG. That's not cool, but oh well. We just have to try our best!

A New Topic, Finally

Thursday, 23rd September 2010

The topic is about Inversions and Triads. At last! A new topic! So, the notes in Triads are literally same with the chords' notes. Wait. Firstly, a chord consists of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th of a scale. For C Major scale, the chord for it is CEG (Do, mi, sol). And for Inversions, we are concentrating on inverted chords. After all, we did learn something new, didn't we.

A Booklet to Guide Us

Tuesday, 21st September 2010

Today, in Music Theory, we were given a small booklet full of information about the schedules in Term 2. Most of them were about Asian Songs. Then, I asked Mr John about one of the assessments, and he immediately sorted us into groups of 5 and 6. My topic was about Chinese Traditional Music. Let's start with researching about it!

This Was It, and I Messed Up

Tuesday, 7th September 2010

Today, it was our Music Assessment. As a member of Guitar, I played 'Potong Bebek Angsa', and I performed really badly, again! I practiced all night long! Maybe, working yourself all night doesn't help. I need a good night sleep to have a good performance, and I didn't! That is why I will redo after the Lebaran holiday.

Horrible Performance

Thursday, 2nd September 2010

Today, it was Shafa's turn to do the Indonesian-themed assessment, and she did a PowerPoint. Well, I think it wasn't that bad, but she was late in submitting the work. Anyway, Mr John told us to perform our assessment (though it's not assessment day yet). I really needed to practice more. So, I ended up performing badly. Embarrassed, I went back to my chair immediately. What? Nobody's perfect.

A Friend to Listen and Our Results

Tuesday, 31st August 2010

Today, it was Shafa's turn to sing the assessment because she was the only one left who hasn't sung yet. After she was finished, it was time to announce the results! And my score was.... 9.6! Awesome! Well, I was very satisfied with my score. Thank you for giving me this score, Mr John! I also congratulate my other classmates.

Assessments aren't Easy, But Just Relax

Thursday, 26th August 2010

It's the Indonesian-themed assessment day today! Our group was the 3rd to present, so we had time to practice. We also did the cue cards during our spare time so we were quite prepared. But, I think some of our group members didn't have eye contact or they weren't speaking that clearly. I don't know, but I really hope that we don't get a bad score. So, I try to relax myself and continue on with the presentation. We did really well, I could tell.

The More You Learn, The Better

Tuesday, 24th August 2010

Today in Music Theory, we learned about how to make a better presentation. Then, we practiced in front of the whole class. My group went up 1st, so being a little bit nervous is acceptable. It's not like I'm going to pee in front of class or something. Anyway, Mr John told most of the group members of my group to keep eye contact with the audience and speak clearer and louder. Thank you for telling that to us, because the more we learn, the better our score will be.

Listen to the Authority

Thursday, 19th August 2010

Today, Mr Herry showed us how to make a blog. He told us where to sign up, which was Blogger.com and he showed us how to sign up. I was surprised when he said we had to put our phone number. I think it was going to be hard and different, because I had an old account before and I didn't have to put our phone number. But, I did learn a thing or two. I had to send my Blog URL to Mr John's Binus email. I hope I get to make a blog soon enough.

Practice Makes Perfect

Tuesday, 3rd August 2010

Today, I practiced for the assessment of Indonesian song singing, again, well luckily not alone, again. This seems to be a little bit boring, but I can live with it. Still, we have to do something fun. But I think music is an important lesson as it teaches us the basic stuff about music and I think it is useful for later in the future. Well, we need a little knowledge in every part of our lives, don't we?
